HGBF Gundam Amazing Exia is Truly Amazing

This is just another one of those short posts since I haven’t posted any actual content on this blog for months again. As I pursue, slowly, my next stage of life, I became even busier than before. Those who know me would see occasional posts on a certain social website still.

At any rate, this piece of Amazing wasn’t planned to be bought so soon. I can call it a gift actually which I built with extra care as I haven’t built anything since Dark Matter. I’ve yet to build the RG Exia I bought as I really want to make it look nice, sans painting.

As for this Amazing Exia, its pretty much the same as Dark Matter, except you get a few more parts – at the same price. The colors are overall nicer to me although I prefer red over blue – Exia is nicer when its blue. Only when its in Trans-AM would red look good on it, at least for me. :p

One main thing to note is that Amazing didn’t have the problems I came across when building Dark Matter. Some of Dark Matter’s parts cracked when I was building it, to my surprise. Amazing is really solid, like any other HG Exia I built in the past. It truly is Amazing.

I was initially worried that the GN Sword shield would be 2-pieces like Dark Matter but it was completely different in shape and design. The shield was actually properly color separated. At the same time, I really wished they updated the Exia’s articulation like they did with Strike. Another time perhaps.

In short, Amazing Exia is a great buy for Exia fans and Build Fighter fans. The only negative is that the main body’s articulation is dated and inferior to the likes of Build Strike/Burning.

That’s all for now~

HGBF 1/144 Gundam Exia Dark Matter Review

Price: 1800 Yen

Been a while since I posted anything here and Gunpla related. Been busy with many matters in life, especially when you’re active in more than one hobby areas. I got this one while on a trip to KL earlier last month and just built it a few weeks ago. After someone said something to me last weekend, I felt that I should once again update my blog with some content. I took some shots as I built this one but didn’t properly shoot some as I did it before I slept. Nonetheless, onwards with the review!

Unit Brief

This is the Gunpla that Meijin Kawaguchi (Yuuki Tatsuya) uses for the final Gunple Battle Tournament against Reijy and Iori Sei. His Gundam Amazing Exia was crudely modified into this form because of someone’s selfish desire and dislike of Reijy. Yuuki further suffers as he is controlled to fight in a brutal manner all in the order to “win”. If you want to know more, do watch the amazing series Gunpla Battle Fighters!

How to Build a Gold Paladin (Liberator) Deck on a Budget

The main cards for this blog entry are Solitary Liberator, Gancelot (Gancelot) and Liberator, Holy Shine Dragon (HSD). Gancelot can be found from TD08: Liberator of the Sanctuary and HS05: Liberator of the Sanctuary, making him relatively easy to find (unless the Trial Deck/Starter Set is out of stock in your area).

The main focus of this HSD-Gancelot combo is to continuously Break Ride every turn if possible. HSD allows itself to return to your hand by selecting another Grade 3 Gold Paladin to ride at the end of your turn, making it possible to ride again with HSD the following turn. Note that if you heal from 4 damage to 3 damage, HSD cannot return to your hand at the end of that turn. HSD has a another skill that allows it to superior call from the top of your deck when you ride it, allowing you to fill up your field if necessary.

When you ride into HSD from Gancelot, you may use HSD’s skill to superior call first before you select (up to) 3 Gold Paladin rearguards to power up, along with the Vanguard as well making your attacks all the more powerful. This essentially makes full use of Gancelot’s Break Ride skill. You may also combo HSD with Steal Spear Liberator, Bleoberis but it is more expensive to do so and only powers up the Vanguard with potential counterblast limitations in the late game.

HG 1/144 Star Build Strike Gundam (Preview)

My local store recently brought in new stock. With temptation, I picked up the HG Star Build Strike Gundam. After I opened the box and look at the runners (as shown above), I quickly notice that this HG is quite the value for money. It comes with most of the parts from the original HG Build Strike Gundam (sans Build Booster) at a cool 1500 Yen price point, which is just 100 Yen more expensive than before. (Basically, you can get this kit and a Build Booster and have all your Build Strike Gundam needs quite cheap.) Moreover, the price is quite generous compared to more expensive Build Fighters kits being offered.

If you haven’t bought one (and wanted one after being tempted by Build Fighters), this is a good kit to buy! Its also good for beginners, even those who wish to do simple advance stuff such as painting as this kit introduces simple to paint areas (not completely hidden while being decently colorful).

Re-Standing Vanguards in Cardfight!! Vanguard – A Look at Gains & Losses

UPDATED: 20 March 2014

There have been a rise of “standing Vanguards” in Cardfight!! Vanguard lately. Re-Standing Vanguards allow you to have another attack with your Vanguard which ultimately lets you drive check again at a certain cost and/or condition. There are two types of standing Vanguards I will discuss about, one is by its own skill while the other is by special condition by riding again during battle phase. Riding again in battle phase will usually lead to a new Vanguard in stand position, allowing you another attack.

As for calculation, I’ll be using a simple base of drawing 3 cards per turn normally. 1 card from draw phase and 2 cards from Twin Drive (excluding draw triggers). The draw phase is negligible as it isn’t affected by any card effects for now. Thus, from any drive checks at Grade 3, you’re supposed to have 2 more cards at the end of the turn. Standing your Vanguard again does not usually come at a cheap cost or easy condition. To some, you may wonder, is it worth it to stand my Vanguard again?

  1. Draw Phase +1 card.
  2. Twin Drive +2 cards.
  3. Draw Triggers are a special variable which are totally luck dependent but useful for high cost standing Vanguards.

Origins of Blaster Dark (Cardfight!! Vanguard)

Unos may be Blaster Dark.

A lot of things are on my mind at the moment and although I have a few important things to take care of, some thoughts on Blaster Dark went by my mind. It is one of the recurring characters (units) from the series Cardfight!! Vanguard as well as being one of the key components in the clan – Shadow Paladin.

Recently Bushiroad green light a manga showing the story of the units from Cray (the fictional planet where the cards are from), featuring Alfred and Ameth (Blaster Blade). In the past few chapters, Unos was highlighted more than usual until the scene above where the sword like weapon, Blaster Blade, is presented to him.

A rundown of the manga around Unos;

When the Sanctuary was attacked by the unknown enemy and his friends were being eaten/mauled by the enemy, he ran away, lacking the courage to face the terrifying enemy before him. Who wouldn’t? He would have died along with them if he stayed there.

He was also envious of Ameth’s (our current Blaster Blade, unless plot twist) strength and capability. At the same time, if I’m not mistaken, looks up to him due to his kindness and so on (basically Ameth is a really good guy).

At the end of the path he ran from the unknown enemies, he crossed paths with Blaster Javelin (Daryl) with Phantom Blaster Dragon (Sing Saver Dragon) picking up the unconscious Laura and Gerard. PBD pierces them with Blaster Rapier and Blaster Axe respectively and “reborn them anew”.

Daryl: “I, we have been reborn!”

PBD then passes Blaster Blade to Unos with Daryl telling him its his very own sword. However, he got a shock out from holding it, partially transforming his armor, closely resembling Ameth’s.

With the unknown enemies creeping by, he forces himself to wield Blaster Blade although some sort of rejection is shown. Blaster Dark’s lore mentioned that he didn’t have the courage to activate the weapon Blaster Blade and was lead to the path of hell by the abyss dragon (PBD). Hmmm…

Note: Sing Saver Dragon is one of the guardian dragons of the United Sactuary. He was mortally wounded by a large unknown enemy but was “revived” through a Blaster weapon, which unfortunately corrupted him. It was shown in an earlier chapter that the Blaster weapons has the potential to corrupt its user, starting with Daryl wielding Blaster Javelin in a mock battle.
