NG 1/100 Gale Strike Gundam (ゲイルストライクガンダム) [Custom Ver. rndm] Review

Price: 2500 Yen
Best Local Price: RM85

Okay, time for the review! I actually thought that I might not be able to make the review in the first place as I did crazy things with the Gale Strike. Nonetheless, as one of the very few owners of this one, I feel that I should shed some light on it since not many people did anyways.

Please refer to the WI(SF)P here and here for further information on what I did. If you do not read those parts first, you may not get why my Gale Strike is somewhat different.

cool I want *_* but >_< no more strike XD

    • 14/02/2010 1:32 am

      Haha, better don’t get it if you don’t feel like it. It is only good to get this one if you truly want it. ^^;

wow… a very nice detailed review XD

really like the color scheme ^^

    good job!

    • 14/02/2010 1:35 am

Thanks! It is not a proper paintjob but I’m quite happy with it (which works out in the end, I guess). ^^

now its time to decide on gale strike or mirage 2nd..

but if i went into craze mode, i might get hail buster ^^

    • 14/02/2010 1:35 pm

Hail Buster ain’t half bad too (but I don’t like it that much). It is probably the one with the most decent color scheme amongst the VS Astray rehashes.
Mirage Frame 2nd Issue is a more fun MS to deal with. IMO, one of the most unique Gundam designs in SEED. XD

Love the colors man ^^ Its much better than the default color scheme :D But like you mention the articulation is a down point, but nothing a saw and some glue can fix hehe!!

    Happy CNY man :D

    • 14/02/2010 1:56 pm

And some proper additional joint parts. Can’t mod the articulation much more than adding some breath at the knees otherwise. XP

Nice color scheme, few owners lolz

    • 14/02/2010 2:07 pm

Thanks! Yep, one of the few owners of this one. XP

WoW nice color scheme and I think it owns the original color by a long way~~~~ ^_^

    • 15/02/2010 2:44 pm

Thanks. Those re-designers should have given it a proper color scheme in the first place. The blue and orange they picked just doesn’t work well for Strike.

  7. 14/02/2010 9:54 pm

that turned out pretty cool, not a kit i have seen very often ^^ the color scheme worked so well.

    and happy CNY! ^^

    • 15/02/2010 2:43 pm

Yep, it sure did. Something random and considerably crazy worked out rather well in the end. ^^

  8. 15/02/2010 9:38 am

Very nice colour scheme ^^ weak joints are always bad though, annoying too T.T”
Awesome review dude! 9 pages just for an NG, now that’s in depth! LOL

    • 15/02/2010 2:40 pm

Yeah, I was like “WTF am I taking so many shots for this review?” during photo-shooting. Haha. In the end, a very long review for a simple rehashed NG. XP

  9. 15/02/2010 10:48 pm

Hmm, I really do wonder though.. what is Librarian works faction?

    • 16/02/2010 2:22 am

I wonder too. Too bad there are no translations for this side-story currently as far as I know.

  10. 16/02/2010 12:38 am

I felt really confused. Is the aile striker pack permanently combined with Strike?

    • 16/02/2010 2:23 am

Sort-of I guess. The large thrusters from the Aile Striker are now strapped on permanently on the shoulders and the legs are modified.

      • 16/02/2010 6:56 am

oooo…..I got it! I can say that this type of strike is really cool

  11. 16/02/2010 7:45 pm

Very detailed review man, and I like the way you organize it also :D
The different color scheme is also very well executed :D well done

    • 16/02/2010 7:58 pm

      The color change was very simple but it was good that the colors blend together nicely in the end (I was like “oh no” when my red came out a bit lighter than expected.). ^^;

i dont think the MG strike is turning yellowish, rather the NG Gale Strike has a pupleish white or something like that.

that’s my opinion. i also own one and sadly, when i was doing dynamic poses
(or rather playing with it) haha. the finger male part broke when iwas attaching the saw sword.

    sad for me. =(

have you tried parts swapping between the two model kits? how compatible are their parts to each other? i’m planning to make a MG look of gale strike (the NG is a little bit chubby and squat eventho it’s taller than aile) >.<

    • 21/06/2011 7:11 pm

      Err, you’ll need to mod it if you were to do that. The MG and NG shoulders are of different sizes. Heck, the whole kit are almost completely different in proportions and joints. You can put em’ on with more effort than simply tacking em’ on like MG and NG Exia though. Get ready with some needed tools. ^^;

Looking back at this, I have a slight feeling to buy a new one and properly paint it next time. Maybe if I ever get an airbrush. = P

The reason you have no waist movement is because you replaced the blades with the original side-skirts. so that’s your own fault.

    It’s an MSV design for a reason…

    • 02/09/2013 5:17 pm

The side-skirts has nothing to do with the limited waist movement, its the front waist skirts that are positioned high that caused the limitations in the first place.
